Letting go of the past... - 07-16-2008, 01:12 PM

My doctor's appointment this morning was near a jewelry store/pawn shop managed by an old friend of mine so after the doctor visit I took the remnants of my shattered marriage there to dispose of them...It was just a couple of gold wedding bands and an old Fossil watch...He told me the rings were worth $150.00 and he didn't have a market for the watch...

I told him that was good and started looking for something to spend it on...He had a Canon EOS A2 film camera with a 28-105mm USM lens on it with Hoya UV filter...I noticed the selector switch on top had no detent stops and just spins...He checked it and couldn't make it work although the flash fired every time...His price on the camera/lens was $259.00 and when I told him all I was interested in was the lens, he said, "How about an even swap for the rings?"...

I agreed to it and he said, "You'll need a rear cover for the lens so just take the camera since it doesn't work anyway"...I said it was a done deal and told him to keep the old watch that he didn't want to buy...I also got the LL Bean divided bag it came with and a set of Cokin square filters...So I got a lens I didn't have and all it cost me was nine years married to the wrong woman...We live and learn...Ben

Edit: Anybody need a Canon EOS A2 for parts?...

EOS A2, hey? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I could probably put it to good use. I'm local. Although if I payed for postage it might be cheaper than gas to Conroe. Send me a PM. Or vice versa.

Well Ben, it looks like you are trying to move ahead. I've been there twice.
Best of luck, and keep a good attitude. Photography is a great soother of broken egos, broken dreams, and broken promises.

At least the sex will be better now.......

If/when I get the EOS A2 working I might be interested in the 28-105. I need something to fill the gap between my 17-35 & 70-200.

Wow can I empathize. I'm glad that period of my life has come and gone.

Ben, it only gets better from here.

Dude - I'm sorry to hear about the end of your marriage. I've been there, done that, and have the Child Support paments to prove it. However: Things will get better, and you will find the right one, just be paitent, and don't try too hard.

Hand in there Ben. I can sympathize with you. Take in the positives and ignore the negatives. Take care.
