Cameras at the Circus? - 07-20-2008, 12:53 PM

When my wife bought tickets to the circus they told her no video or big cameras, she said she didn't ask but they toldhe this as soon as she bought them. Anyone know what Ringling Brothers considers a big camera? I checked on their webiste and could not find any info...I checked the Reliant Stadium website and it states each show has their own guidelines. I would hate to have to check my camera and walk back to the car to put it up.

Lonnie -

I got kicked to the car last year with my D70 and an 80-200 attached to it. The Reliant security guy told me that I had too big of a lens on the camera. He told me that if I had a "smaller" lens, it would be OK. So I went and put on my 24-60 and life was good. However, I did see others who got in with bigger lenses. I think it depends on who you go to when you walk through the gate.

Enjoy the show.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the help...I took my camera with a small 50mm 1.8 and had no problem at all. I saw many others with kit lenses and no one was hassled but I didn't want to take a chance with a white lens.

FYI, I really needed the 1.8 most of the time.
