How do you display images on your television via a DVD player? - 07-27-2008, 09:12 PM

Can you display images on your television via a DVD player? I tried to do this with my Palouse images on a CD but it wouldn't work. Do I need to put the images on a DVD instead? Thanks for your help!

Check out Pro Show. I have the Producer version but the basic will do what you want and once you start using it you will love it.

PS I am not on the Photodex staff and I approved this comment. LOL

Hi Robert,
I already have the images on the CD, but when I put the CD into the DVD player the pictures did not appear on my television set. Do I need to put those images on a DVD instead? Thanks for helping me.

Oh ok, probably. DVD players don't all read CD media. It just all depends on the player. Some must have the media formatted in some type of photo disk format. They may not read just file folder or just jpg images.

What's the brand and model of your DVD player Therese? Are you just saving jpg files to the CD? What burning software?

It's more than just putting files on a disk. You need software to create a DVD format.

Download this free software and create a slideshow with your files.

http://www.irfanview.com/

Save it as a DVD, and it should work for you.

I'm sorry I don't have Irfanview on this computer to check out details, but as I remember it will create a DVD format.

There are a number of commercial slideshow programs out there that will burn to a DVD format and give you lots of control over the slideshow if you prefer.

You definitely need to burn a DVD. Very few DVD players can read CD format. They are two very different things. Use either of the programs specified above, or you can even just use Windows Movie Maker. Just use the burn to DVD option.

Okay, this is the easiest solution!

If you have an iPod you can also get an av cable, sync your photos to the ipod, and play on your tv. I do all my slideshows this way when they are at parties, company trips, etc. you can also have a playlist of music play behind the photos.

I don't do this when I need a professional preentation I use video editing software (Sony)

My old DVD can read and process CD audio files, but not images saved on CD. Like others have said, you'll need to burn it as a DVD. And probably the software mentioned, too.
