Paying it Forward - Houston - 07-28-2008, 01:36 PM

I'm sure most of you have seen John Michael Cooper's "Pay It Forward" roadside family portraits reference in the "Very Alt-f" thread in the Weddings Discussion session.

Well, I was one of the recipients of his generosity and now it's time for me to pay it forward. So, if you're in the Houston area, get with me!

I will use the same "criteria" John did for selecting a family:

- Tell me when was the last time you had a family portrait session done
- Tell me why you should receive the session

Get me the information via PM here by August 8 and I will select one family.

I've got a couple of ideas in the back of my mind, but nothing has fully materialized yet.

It does count.

Just to clarify something here.

1) It must be a photographer's family.
2) That photographer must be willing to "pay it forward" to another photographer's family.

This all got started with a presentation David A. Williams made at a convention. David is a second generation photographer and was talking about "neurographs" - memories. When his mother passed away, he realized that they had photographs of his mother, photographs of the kids, photographs of some of the kids with the mother, some photos of his father - but very few if any of the entire family.

When David realized that, it really got to him and he determined at that point to never do another "family" session without the entire family present.

John was touched by this story and has decided to try and correct the problem by starting this "Pay it Forward" effort.
