San Antonio Activities for kids? - 07-28-2008, 08:48 PM

Hubby and I are most likely going to San Antonio next week.. probably only for one night possibly two if there is anything that the kids can do besides going to Seaworld.... I don't think they would be very interested in walking in riverwalk and all that... is there anything else? I know Fiesta Texas but they are 6,4 and about to be 3 next week so I don't think they would really have fun at Fiesta Texas so I figure Seaworld would be better as I hear it has a lot of cool shows!
BTW- this will be our first ever family trip as we always kept putting off anything as our excuse was "the kids are still too little" well my oldest is being dieing to go somewhere LOL
TIA for any advice!

The Zoo is great, as is the Natural Bridge Caverns Wildlife Ranch out in Garden Ridge. My kids are 4 and 6 and are old enough for the Natural Bridge Caverns tour... but I'm not sure if I'd want to try and take a younger kid down there, because it's a hike.

Well the Wildlife Ranch is a drive through. The caves themselves are probably too much for very short legs.

Fiesta Texas has probably twice the number of rides for your young ones than Seaworld. We have found with our Grandkids (twin 4yr old girls, 7 year old boy and 10 year old girl) that Seaworld did not hold thier interest as much, BUT, we are season pass holders to one or the other each year (along with them) and that they may have been a little jaded. Usually one show at Seaworld and they are ready to go 'do something'. BOTH places have water parks open still next week but the youngest especially will be limited on those.

There is also the Childerns Museum downtown (air conditioned and good for at least 4 hrs) and the Witte which has a special childrens section (about 2-3 hrs worth). The zoo also has a couple of kiddie areas one of which is indoors.

Zoo there is very nice, in my opinion much better than Houston's. If you go, get there when they open, it will be cooler and less crowded.

I agree that the zoo is good! Your kids are the perfect ages for SeaWorld. They'll have a blast! Wherever you go, Go early!

Be CAREFUL with your camera! When they say "Splash Zone" they REALLY mean it!
