Hey guys - I'm a newbie to the board...*grin* but I thought there might be some of you locally who would like to attend. The 72nd Brigade Combat Team (my husband is part of this unit) has been in South Texas (Padre Island, Port Isabel) helping with the hurricane relief and damage will be arriving back in Houston tomorrow around 2pm. They have been helping with coordination of supplies, food, drink – you name it and they’ve been doing it. There are some very hot, very sunburned individuals who will be arriving.
If you are available to participate in a ‘Welcome Home’ sign holding flag waving group – or you just want to come say “Thanks!” – please do. The Family Readiness Group for Company B will be handing out cold drinks and food to them at the National Guard Armory located on Westheimer Parkway, just west of Hwy 6.
It may not seem like a huge thing to do - but people just being there, and saying “Thanks” means a lot. When you compare that to an empty parking lot as they drive up, you can imagine how much more it means. We will be assembling around 1:30 or so. Feel free to make a poster or banner if you like.

That's the 'press release' version that I sent out via email to just about everyone I know....actually it
was EVERYONE that I know. ;-) . I thought some of you guys might be supporters of our military and thought if anyone was in the area - or was available - you are welcome. It'll be short, and quick - most of them will want to get home to their families.
Our National Guard unit has been alerted for Iraq deployment in September of next year so ANY time away is hard. I'm not sharing state secrets...
ARMY RELEASE INFO HERE !! *grin*
