I just got back from a week at a beachhouse in Galveston. Took my 5D and shot daily on the beach. Only precaution I made was to keep the camera in a gallon ziplock bag when I wasn't using it. Then, each evening I'd blow and brush the dust and fine sand off the exterior and inside....not locking up the mirror.
That worked fine for me. It's really what you do to prevent the elements from affecting your equipment. Prevention is the key.

The air isn't that bad, I live down here and am always shooting in it. If there is salty air, I don't know about it. It can become humid at the beach so watch out for fog on your lens. It's sometimes known to happen in the morning and evenings. Don't exchange lenses in the open beach area. Go to your car for that, and trust me you want to try different angles while your down here. Don't get the camera wet. I know it's obvious, but I thought a reminder wouldn't hurt.

I included a link of some pictures I took about a week ago of famous attractions in Corpus Christi that I thought you might want to go see or take pictures of: http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=80450

Have anymore questions about the area or need help finding something PM with any questoins.

Have a safe trip!
