Bass Pro Shops Photography Seminar - Grapevine - 08-01-2008, 02:36 PM

Hi guys,

I posted this in the wildlife forum but thought some people who don't frequent the forum might be interested.

I am giving three FREE photography seminars at Bass Pro Shops next weekend.

The times are:

August 8th - 7:30pm
August 9th - 12:30 pm
August 10th - 2:00 pm

The seminars are free so I'd love for you guys to come out so I can meet you.

Also, THIS IS IMPORTANT:

I want to make my presentation based on your questions so if you know you are coming and have a specific question to ask, let me know and I will add the question to my presentation.

Thanks!

RG

Russell - sounds very cool. Should we bring our gear (camera, lens, etc.)?

One question that I would have.... do you really need to have a ginormous telephoto lens to shoot wildlife? What kind of wildlife would be within my reach if the longest lens I have is a 70-200 on a full frame body?

Thanks for the great question, Wes.

No need to bring any equipment as it will be just a give and take with the audience. Unless, that is, you have a specific question about your camera.

Thanks,

RG

I may need to check my schedule to see about attending. How long does each seminar last?

I've attended one of Russell's Bass Pro talks before and it is really interesting and I'd recommend it. I may go if I'm in town. Capt. Tom has been there too.

It's worth going there to hear Russell speak (he's a professional instructor) and to just meet a fantastic wildlife photographer. Of course, he's now venturing into offshore work, and who knows what other projects he's undertaking ? One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

I'm already talking to the wife about taking a mini-vacation next week and driving up from Killeen for an overnighter. What do you cover?

Whatever you'd like for me to cover. I am soliciting questions from people who will attended and will customize the seminar accordingly. I hope you can make it.

When you're out, do you use a call of some type to get the animals/subjects attention? I've looked at an electronic device that allows you to dial in any of a large number of sounds and I would think that would get the subject to look my way, but it was bulky. Any helpful hints here?

Here's an update:

I was told today that the seminars will be upstairs in the golf area.

See you there.

Thanks,

RG

Provided the creek doesn't rise, which shouldn't be a problem, I'll be there tomorrow (Fri).
