Breezy,
A USMC birthday ball is a bit different from the Chief's Ball. I shot 2 of them here in Ft Worth and those were all USMC in the area. Here is what I would suggest and you need to figure out if you can accomodate.
1.Have a set up to shoot the couples. that is truly what they want is a photo of them and their lady while they are in their dress uniform.
2. Decide on packages and have them set up so you can deliver them quickly OR have a printer there so you can make ONE size (5x7 maybe) onsite. If a Marine wants more copies they can contact you later.
3. Find out if they are wanting any photos of the ceremonies. Usually they will have a command member shooting those photos and I dont see much business coming from that.
4. Scout the location. There are all kinds of hotel ballrooms and convention spaces in Tidewater that all have different accomodations. It would be ideal if you can see ahead of time what is available and where you can best set up.
5. Find out if the Command can provide their Unit Flag for inclusion in the photos. Each USMC Unit has their own flag but they may not have an extra for you if it is involved in the ceremonies. Just a nice extra touch.
6. You might ask if they have a sample of what was done last year. Just to see what they are expecting. I doubt this is the first time they have done this but may be the first time this Sgt has been tasked with it.
Look forward to hearing how it works out!!
