Thoughts on this hard drive

it's supposed to spin down when not in use...i'm not sure about that - but the price is great for a 1tb drive.

Personally, I vote for Western Digital. I've had 2 WD drives finally fail after 15 years. I've had 3 Maxtor drives fail within the first year. The "green" spin-down feature is great, but you will wait for a split second when accessing the drive after it has spun down.

Ditto I have used WD for years and had ONE fail it was the first one i bought and it lasted prolly 5 yrs lol a whopping 10GB

thanks - they had a maxtor for $10 more...but still a good price

I bought two of that same model a few months ago from Fry's, and am happy. WD has been good to me.

Stay away from Maxtors. Nothing but trouble from my experience.
