LOL. I had the same jealousy last night when they panned the crowds. I even remarked it to my girlfriend... I'd give up Freebirds forever to go to Beijing and have just one of those lenses.

during the gymnastics I kept seeing all the Nikon D3 straps behind the girls and kept thinking "Damn, I want one of those"

The gear is incredible. Now, a) could you actually sleep on the plane knowing you had all that gear down there, b) would your insurance agent be able to sleep, and c) are the baggage handlers still taking orders?

Judging from my last experience with American Airlines, I would be sweating bullets.

I almost think it would be worth buying an extra ticket for someone just to be a carry on pack mule.
