When I still owned my gun store, I used TES Security...As I recall, they're based in Sugarland...Never had a problem with them and their prices for monitored coverage was less than ADT...Ben

I believe we are paying about $29 a month or something like that.

I have retired nosy neighbors with itchy trigger fingers. Costs me a helping them move something a couple times a year and a Sunday afternoon visit every once in a while. They also get the mail and feed the pets when you on vacation.

It's the best service I've found.

Funny thing... In Houston we have a nice retired couple that lives across the street. One day they saw some random guy walked right into our house while they were doing some gardening. He ended up running over and knocking on our door. I open the door and what do I see? My neighbor holding a .44 Magnum at his side. Scared the crud out of me.

The guy was one of our friends and we told him to walk in.

Still... It was nice to know they are being vigilant. Though, I did tell him to just call the police next time.

Charles - you beat me to it. The only thing I'll add to my choice of security is Smith & Wesson 629 classic, 6" barrel 44 magnum with a couple of boxes of retired Black Talon rounds . . . if the first slug misses them, the wash knocks them down for the second try!

ADT is good and so is Brinks -- well I can't speak for Houston but I used to work for ADT so I know how their system works and I also know how Brinks works and they are both reliable...I don't know about the smaller companies but I will warn you -- for customer service purposes it's best to go with the company directly and be cautious of any security dealears (those smaller shops that sell ADT's service...the equipment is not ADT equipment and sometimes you'll have problems at the wrong time -- that's not all dealers but we had our share of crap installs that we came across).

If you already have a system in place, call either Brinks or ADT and they can probably do a takeover of your existing system for about $99 and monthly varies. If you're system is wireless then ADT is probably the best bet as Brinks does not (or did not when I was in security) do wireless systems -- they can take it over but not replace contacts.

Hope it helps.
