And I am one.
I am not fond of misspellings and bad grammar but I know some posters who are, simply put, illiterate or semi-illiterate.
They have their excuses in some cases in that they had to drop out of school or they simply did poorly.
Some of us write more than others and we are more experienced and more comfortable than those who get little chance to practice and perfect their written skills.
Sadly, I know of one person who is in the military serving our country who is absolutely terrible when it comes to expressing himself when writing.
He is very embarrassed about his lack of training but he has other things to do and it's not a priority for him to work to improve.
People do make fun of him and jump all over the mechanical mistakes to the point that he rarely contributes.
He is on the outside looking in and his thoughts are no less important or intriguing as anyone else's. He is not of low intelligence or stupid
He is only one example.
I believe that every poster should be treated with dignity and respect and that his post should be examined for content rather than form.
The man is not mentally retarded - he just can't express himself very well in this medium.
I have worked hard to boost his ego and self esteem by telling him to simply post and I have asked people to accept the faults and weaknesses and work to grasp the meaning of the man's post.
We who are gifted with education are also intelligent enough to figure out the meaning and intent of a butchered post.
What that means is that the task of "communicating" works.
And that, my friends, is what we all gathered here to do - communicate.
I know I stand alone in this, but I urge each of us to refrain from criticizing sentence structure, spelling and grammar and move on to absorbing the ideas and opinions of people who have something to contribute regardless of their ability to be elegant in the process.
