Enjoy that killer battery life!

I'll get one someday when they get that figured out.

Daniel, also keep an eye out on the areas around the headset jack, volume buttons, and camera. There is an issue where the back of the phone is developing hairline stress fractures in these places for no reason.

That and the problems people seem to be having with 3G are the main things holding me back from getting one. Still waiting for Apple to acknowledge the cracking issue.

I've had my iPhone for almost 6 months now, and I LOVE IT.Sure the battery life could be improved, but the iPhone isn't the only smart phone that could use an improvement in this area. I've owned several other smart phones and they all suffer from this. Having said that, and there are steps that you can do to maximize the battery life like turning off Wi-Fi when you're not in or around a hotspot. And I do recommend a vehicle charger to go along with it.

Congratulations on your purchase....I know, you will enjoy it immensely.

The 3G version for 6months?

The 3G version is the one I am specifically talking about.

My Blackberry 8800 will last a week on a charge... My Treo, about 6hrs. UGH.

admittedly the battery life leaves something to be desired, but from what I understand in comparison to other phones with "similar" capabilities running 3G the battery life on the iPhone is much better.

If you sit in an office all day it's not hard to just plug it in and leave it alone. My only real concern is if you're out and about for a long time traveling or something similar you might be without the capability to charge it, but if that's the case it just takes a little common sense to not be playing games on it all day and it should last. I've put mine in my pocket before 6am in the morning, and not plugged it into a charger until about 10 at night. It all depends on how much you fiddle with it, and being smart about it's use.

No, not the 3G. I have the original iPhone. Truth be told, there is not much difference between the two to warrant an upgrade if you are running the 2.0 software. Yes, 3G is faster then Edge, but lets be real, does everyone who has an iPhone need 3G? Can everyone get 3G? Answer is no, and no.. Oh yeah... you pay $10 per month more for unlimited data in the US for 3G over Edge.
Depending on who you ask, the battery is better, or worse on the 3G model versus the original (see Walt Mossberg's review).
The GPS doesn't have turn-by-turn for either (yet) nor does the GPS on the 3G stay on all the time. It turns on to locate your position, then turns off. Notice how Apple says it's called "assisted" GPS.
I see no need to upgrade at this time as I am completely content with my original 16GB iPhone that does everything that the 3G does. When Apple releases a fix for the Infineon chip to correct those problems, and does something with the GPS to implement audible turn-by-turn directions, then, I'll consider upgrading.
