Well TriCoast had to follow the Senior Photographer Crowd and... - 08-18-2008, 09:03 PM

drive from the Texas Gulf Coast to Kansas and back in 24 hours Smokey and the Bandit style (minus the illegal booze, 18 wheeler, cool car and hawt chick) so it was really not Smokey and Bandit style but it was fast trip

Left Lake Jackson, Texas at 10am on Sunday morning and arrived back in Lake Jackson Texas on Monday morning at 11am after going to Burlington, Kansas to pick up this old boy we now call affectionately "Mater" from Cars. A total of over 1500 miles.

Nothing special but the price was right. Horrible pic I know of it, it was dark just now when I took the snapshot but tomorrow it will go in the studio's backyard down by the 30 year old shed which is being converted into the old gas station.

While not an orig. idea it will be the only type studio prop in the area so it should go over pretty well I am guessing.

Love it!!! My little boy wants a "Mater." Mommy would love to have one of those herself!

I can't wait to see Mater's debut in some of your pics!

Looks your Smokey and Bandit run was worth the 1500 mile trip. I'm with Lisa and her son. I want a Mater too!! I'm anxious to see Mater's premier debut!

Thanks everyone and this rain while we need it is going to delay Mater's big release. I need the ground dry to get him into his pre-designed spot in the studio's backyard.

But soon we will have picture of Mr. Mater for everyone to see I promise :)

I've got a '54 model in just about the same shape and I would make someone a really good deal if they asked! The truck is complete but the bed is disassembled. Why get rid of it? We are moving houses in a few months and I don't want the additional hassle of moving the old truck myself.

"Mater" looks like a distinguished old gentleman with real character! And I bet he could tell some good ole stories...

Wish you were closer. I'd rent him from you...figure it's got to be cheaper than Hertz!

Thanks Ed and I think I have gotten more questions on where or why I said Lake Jackson instead of Houston area than anything else from the article, Rangefinder was a pleasant surprise to say the least and an honor!
