Forbes Magazine - 08-19-2008, 12:12 AM

I was flipping through the pages of Sept. 1 Forbes and started to notice a trend. First I was looking at the article on Alabama coach Nick Saban and it had a very familiar LucisArt look to it. I noticed it was shot by Dave Hill who uses that style in just about all his images so that made sense, but then I noticed that other photos in the magazine had a similar high contrast, LucisArt, look and began to wonder. Is this a fad across the publishing industry or just a Forbes photo editor that liked the look and thought they'd use it on a few more images?

I like the look but anything can be overdone and was just wondering if I'm the only one that noticed it. Great shots in the Saban article by the way.

some money magazine (may have been forbes as well) had a cover shot of Mike Rowe that was done in the same style. I have seen the style popping up more and more lately as well. I think it is a fad that will pass soon enough.

I take that back: a quick google search turned up this http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/...-business.html

Very cool looking style. Looks like HDR. Does anyone know how this is done?
