iPhone 3G Movies...What Formats and how to add? - 08-25-2008, 11:48 PM

So I got a 3G last week, and I've been trying to copy some home-movies I shot with my Canon S3 IS onto the iPhone. They are .avi format.
In iTunes, I go to "Add file to library" and add the movie, but nothing happens. It doesn't show up in iTunes.
What formats are supported by iPhone, and does anyone know how I can convert these to be able to copy them to my iPhone?
Thanks!
I'm going to browse the mac forums too to see...Just thought I'd ask here first since I'm sure alot of you have 3G's...

I know that if I convert my movies to .m4v's they upload just fine... I use the Quick Time Pro convertor to do my conversions. It has an option specifically for iPhone.

I use this nifty little app called VisualHub that converts my movies to iPhone/iPod formats.

Went to an iphone forum and they listed a bunch of stuff. I got a free converter called Vidora. That was the problem, I had to convert them to mp4. Thanks for your time!

If you use a Mac, then HandBrake works really well.

I have several movies on my 16GB 3g

Try H.264, NTSC 29.97 fps progressive video, AAC 128 kbps 48 kHz stereo audio, with MP4 multiplexing (iPod stream compatibility). It works well for me.

^^^^^^-------- Nerd alert! Nerd alert!

I guess since I know what all those acronyms mean, it's just the NAND calling the NOR a complete gate.

Let's tell all: Videora only runs on Windows OS's.
