In Cold Stone Creamery
While in TX we always bought the kids an Ice cream cake for their bdays. Well they don't have them here. So everyone said that CSC is the same thing.
NO IT IS NOT!
DDs cake was just that a CAKE with a little bit of ice cream and I do mean a little bit. Not only that but it had whipped cream on the sides. THey spelled dds name wrong even after the girl read it back to me. And it was supposed to be in Red icing since she did Strawberry cheesecake.
We were expecting ICE CREAM and a little bit of cake.
DD was so sad.
We won't be doing that next year

I'm so sorry that your daughter's birthday cake wasn't what you were expecting.

Have you tried Baskin Robbins? They have or at least they had Ice Cream Cakes that were ALL Ice Cream, no cake at all. We did that every year for each of us.

I'd recommend Carvel Ice Cream, hands down. They have been east-coast staples for years and only recently started popping up in Texas. I've had several of the cakes in the past couple of years (and have the pictures to prove it, of myself at least). They are awesome!

There's one planned to "open soon" in Norfolk according to carvel.com at 880 North Military Highway. Then there are two others sort of close by, like Baskin-Robbins there's one in Virginia Beach and one in Chesapeake. Check 'em out!

There is a place in Frisco, Sheridans, that used to sell frozen custard cakes. I'm not sure they still sell cakes, but I do know they are still in business and their custard is so good it should be illegal in all 50 states!

There's a Sheridans in Watauga (near Fort Worth), too, but that's a long way from Virginia to get an ice cream cake!

Best I ever had was in my hometown of Fredericksburg, Va.: Carl's. It was one of the first places to mix frozen custard, and I remember waiting in line with my parents for what seemed like forever to make it to the small building where they sold it. Ahhhhh, so good and yet so bad!

That would actuall be closer. Probably wont' be open by dhs bday but we wil see. I will definately check out both recommendations though. Cause it won't be CSC again lol
As for Carls I saw that on the food channel where they go all over the country looking for the best BLANK.
We will have to try them sometime when we are up that way.

I was reading some of the replies, and immediately started thinking of DQ. Glad you mentioned it.

and if not an icecream cake, I know that when I was a kid, there were very few things in this world that made me as happy as a dipped cone from DQ... That soft serve under a shell of chocolate was heaven for an 8 yr old!
