USAA insurance right now
Dh was rearended on July 10th, 3 days after we got here. The kid who hit him is an airman and chatted with dh while they waited on the cops. They exchanged info etc...
We have geico he has USAA. Dh has been to his ship, talked with his 1st class, I said go for the chief but dh doesn't like me being demanding
Any way dh was informed everything would be taken care of etc....
USAA keeps giving us the run around and isn't pressuring the guy to call, but supposedly the kids rate has already gone up.
DH just got off the phone with them AGAIN and this time the claims adjuster said that if she doesn't hear from him in a reasonable amount of time then it will be her call to either pay out or dismiss the entire claim and then we have to go after the kid.
So now dh wants geico to go ahead and fix the car even though I think he should go after the kid to get it done.
I swear I hate insurance companies.

I had a similar problem a few years ago...They stalled, I had my insurance fix my truck and they sued his insurance company, won and reimbursed me my expenses...My rates did not go up...Ben

My wife was in an accident a few years ago and it was Geico that took forever to pay. We've had USAA since I was in high school (that was many years ago now) and they've always been top notch.

I would think you'd be pressing through your company, Geico as they represent you.

Breezy, first I think you should have the insurance companies fight it out. If you and dh truly want to deal with the command.. 1st class hasnt done anything yet. Need to go to the Chief or right to the CMC. This young Airman may think that he can get lost in the shuffle in a big command but the CMC will not want this hanging about.

I know that sucks, but that's the way it is. The insurance company doesn't want to pay the claim until they can confirm that 1)the accident happened and 2)what really happened (to determine fault) How is it the ins co fault for him not calling? How can they "pressure" him? Going through your insurance company might be the best route. Pay the deductible, fix the car and your ins company will pursue the other guy. Once they do, you get the deductible back. Your rates don't go up, cause it wasn't your fault.

Why hate the insurance company? I always see a lot of animosity towards insurance companies, until someone's house burns down and the company pays to have it rebuilt..

I have been very satisfied with USAA. I had two accidents with uninsured motorist and USAA was right there to process my claim and make sure that we were OK. Why isn't your insurance company helping you? I agree with Matt.

Breezy,

Clear some of your messages off. I tried to PM you. Your quota is full and it would not send it.

Het Michael I cleared it :D
Geico is trying to contact him but they didn't know there was an issue as dh didn't call tell them there was an issue.
What pisses me off with USAA is that the chick said it was up to her.
Trust me if this were my vehicle I would have been in USAAs office here but it is dhs and I wasn't in the wreck I was standing at the commissary with tons of frozen crap thawing cause dh wasn't back when he said he would be.
We have done everything on our end except pay the deductible. Dh even called the kid again to day. I think he should go to the command and stand there as he calls them. But that is just me lol

Well... - 08-29-2008, 07:39 PM

Looks like it's good to HAVE USAA instead of having the other guy have USAA. I have been on both sides of the fence.

While insured by Kemper Insurance, I was hit by a kid with an insurance card, but mom had cancelled the check for the insurance coverage. Essentially, he had an insurance card, but there was no policy. Well, dad had USAA (divorced), and the kid was covered under his policy as well. I had to involve the State Board of Insurance to get USAA to cover the claim.

USAA wanted my policy to use my uninsured motorists coverage for the damage, but I thought that USAA should cover it since the kid was covered by both his moms and dads policies. After 2 months of messing with it, USAA finally sent me a check for the damages.

Well, I married the son of an Army captain, and he has USAA. Best insurance ever. We have had a claim on our home insurance policy for plumbing problems, and our rates have never gone up.

Good luck! They are ruthless with their own.

Shannon

You pay your insurance company for a reason. Have them do the work and then they go after the other insurance company for reimbursement.

P.S. I always see in your messages, DH, DD, etc. what does this mean?

My wife was rear-ended on 635 awhile back and the other insurance wanted to play games. I told them in a calm, very confident voice, "We can do things the easy or we can it the hard way, the end result will be the same... I WILL WIN". It was amazing how quick they handled the claim.

It wasn't a threat, it was a fact, my law firm is only a phone call away and they love to deal with insurance companies.

Back when I used to be an ambulance chaser (I mean, honorable attorney) USAA was one of the best to deal with.

Consider yourself lucky that the guy had insurance.

I'm thinking that you may have rubbed the adjuster the wrong way. Let your insurance company handle it. That's what you pay them for.

And BTW -- The adjuster has enough info to process the claim -- she needs to be getting her insured to contact her.

Just because she dismisses the claim doesn't mean squat --

USAA has never given me a problem -- but don't get me started on *********

David it would be dear husband, daughter, son etc...
unless he has irritated me lol then it could be dumb husband and a few other choice words that fit the abbreviations :P
But dear is the norm.

I will call Geico Tuesday myself and find out what the heck is going on. Dh trusts people too much lol.

Thanks again for the advice

Rod I couldn't have rubbed them the wrong was as I have let dh handle it. And I seriously think part of it is cause he has been so calm and like it is no big deal. No had I dealt with them then yeah I very well could have, since I tend to be more aggressive about things. :D

Stephen when I call I may have to use your approach, since I am usually mean by the time I get to that point lol.
