Ok... so last night I get to the Cameron Ferry earlier than I thought I would and my GPS says home by 12:30 am. It's about a 15 minute wait but the load is light and it didn't take long to get back across and unload. I was going to stop back in Cameron for fuel and to pee but the little Shell station was packed (crews from the rigs coming in) so I kept going. Needless to say I had to pee pretty bad by the time the ferry started moving. Once we landed I drove about 4 miles past the ferry landing and found a place to pull over. The car behind me went by and I noticed a car coming the other direction very slowly. It kind of rolls to a stop directly opposite of me.

I'm thinking "wtf?" and not really liking the idea that someone would stop, on a dark night, on a skinny little road in the middle of nowhere... at the same place I am stopping. I rolled the window down to see what they wanted (immediately thought- "great, now they know it's just me"). After a minute or so a gal gets out and wobbles toward my truck yelling "can you help me!" I'm thinking, "Oh Lord... what have I gotten into now?". I tell her yeah... I guess... what's wrong? She comes around to the passenger side so I let her in. Then she says "wait, I need to get my beer. Want one?".

and scurries back to the car, puts the flashers on, and gets her beer. Uh... no... now I'm looking for the dudes that surely must be there with her to carjack me or extort money from me... Never happened. She had run out of gas on the way to pick her husband up. He was waiting back in Cameron (turns out he had been waiting for about 2 hours). So... I took her back across the ferry to Cameron

(the ferry guy was looking at me like dude... you drive off into the swamp and come back with a chick??? WTF???

) We go to the Shell... she's babbling away the whole time. She didn't stop talking bad about her husband the whole way. When we got to the stairs going up to the store I turned up the stairs so I could go to the bathroom and she stopped and started talking to some guy... it was her husband. He's looking at me like- what are you doing with my wife? I was not bothered. There were more pressing issues than a jealous husband. I introduce myself and left for the bathroom. When I came out, they were loading his stuff in my truck, neither had any money... so I got to buy a 5 gallon gas can, fill it up, and take them back to the car. I waited for them to get rolling and took off. I got home at 2:30am this morning.
That's how I roll
