San Diego hint? - 08-30-2008, 09:27 PM

Hi All,
In a week, I'll be heading to San Diego for a 3 day quick business trip. If I'm lucky, I might be able to break free for a few hours of photos after the business day ends. As of today, I don't even know where the office is in SD.

Wildlife? Landscapes? Surfing? City Life?

Any hints or suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Go down by the convention center to the Marriot Hotel, its a beautiful piece of architecture and its on the bay. Walk away from the convention center down along the bayfront and there are some antique sailing ships to go on or just shoot from the sidewalk. If you have time take the trolley tour of the town, but its about a half day trip. A cross the bay is the old ferry landing and its a great place to shoot the city skyline from. I was only going to spend one day in SD and wound up staying 4, I fell in love with the place... of course the also the zoo and balboa park too.. just soooo much

The USS Midway

Mission beach, the zoo, Balboa park, La Jolla, North Island, Sea World, and a whole bunch more.

Edit: Oh, and the Gas Light District, too.

David stole my idea. The USS Midway rocks - especially if you enjoy military history.

Thanks for the info!
I'd like to work a few of these into the trip. I'll be tight, but I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again,

Ocean Beach pier--about halfway out is right where the waves break and you can grab some great in your face surfing action shots with a moderately long lense, (100-200mm-ish).

Little Italy has some great picturesque spots, as does the Gaslamp District.
