It's been a few years since I was there but I used to travel there about 10 times per year. You will find things to shoot everywhere! Really! The downtown area (where most of the good hotels are) have some incredible old Catholic churches that lend themselves to some amazing photos. There are a lot of old styled markets around, food carts on the streets, etc.

There are some furniture "factories" and brick and tile "factories" on the outskirts of town as well. They are kind of cool. If it's like it was before, everything is done by hand and with old tools, so you should be able to get some good shots.

If you eat outside the hotels, try some of the family style restaurants. You don't get a big choice of what's on the menue but a great meal for a small price.

While I was traveling I didn't take a camera, wish I had. I guess I need to go back again just for photos.

Have fun. Make sure you post some photos.

Thanks for the info David. My wife and I will be going for a convention and possibility a few side trips. Be there 4-5 days for the convention and the pre or post trips are 3-4 days each. We should have some free time to explore on our own too, while at the convention.

The convention is in October 2009, so we are just now trying to decide if we are going and if we will be taking any side trips.

So far it looks like we will sign-up for this one. This is a replacement destination instead of Bejing... which we were looking forward too; but circumstances changes and the convention had to be moved.

Thanks again for your input.
