Don't look now but the Astros are making a run at the Wild Card. Since the Allstar break the good guys are 30-15. In August their record was 21-9 , which included 4 series sweeps of the Mets, Reds, Giants, and the Cardinals. To keep the ball rollin, the Stros started September the way they ended August, sweeping another team. This time it happened to be the team with the best record in baseball (at least they were until the Astros finished with them), the Central division leading Chicago Cubs!

What's even more amazing is that they accomplished all this by playing 32 games in 33 days in the month August and begining of September. Yes, ONLY one day off!

I am happy to see some of the veteran journey men like Brian Moehler, Randy Wolf, and LaTroy Hawkins help this team win. My biggest surprise this year is Dub squared a.k.a Wesley Wright. This kid is unbelievable. At 23 years of age, he pitches like a season pro. He reminds me of a former lefty flamethrower, Mr Billy Wagner. Wright wasn't even suppose to make the team in spring training. But he showed Coop and the rest of the Houston brass what he was made of.

Anyways, I'm gonna ride this roller coaster with my other die hard stros fans; Michael (Michael Lyons), Marco (MarcofromHouston) and Leon (lhdvries)! We'll watch these bandwagon jumpers snap their ankles jumping off and on this ride!!!

I'm with you Sonny. I was born in Houston and raised an Astro's fan. They'll be my team to the grave. Even after moving up to DFW, they are still my team.

Is it possible? Can this really happen? Will the Astros pull off another amazing 2nd half of the season comeback? In one word, it's a strong possibility! Ok, so that was four words.

I say "possibility" only because 2 parts of the starting rotation are hurting. Wandy Rodriguez will miss his next start against the Cubs because of a strained right oblique muscle. Bradon Backe might miss another start due to soreness in his pitching elbow. Jack Cassel and Alberto Arias both preformed well in their starts replacing the two injured pitchers.

Trying to win the Wild Card spot will not be easy. But when it comes to the Astros, when do they ever doing things the easy way. Including tonight's game there are 17 games left in the 2008 season. After Pittsburgh, the Chicago Cubs come to town for a 3 game series. Even though they swept the Cubs in Chicago I believe this series will play a major factor. After the Cubs, the Stros go on the road for 6 games, 3 against Florida and 3 against Pittsburgh. Then the Astros will finish the regular season at home with 6 more games, 3 against the Cincinnati and Atlanta.

Cause I couldn't find it I had to make it, 2008 Record after All-Star game:

GO STROS!
