I had to make an emergency delivery last night to Norco, Louisiana.

Make sure you have a full tank of gas when you reach Lafayette. Getting gas is difficult east of there on I-10. The power outage is worst than I thought it would be.
From what I can see in the dark it was pretty torn up east of Baton Rouge. Gustav sure was a tree eater.

I personally think the residents came back too early. From what I hear on the radio people need help. I heard Red Cross is not doing their job and Fema no brainer is tightening up too. That's just what I'm hearing from the evacuees.
I know this is not an easy fix and crews are working 24hrs around the clock right now to get trees cleared and power restored.
The hotels are full but no power. Did I mention no vacancy either?
Water is a huge problem too. People are unable to flush and take showers without the sewer back-up. They can't wash dishes or clothes.
Imagine yourself without all the luxuries you have. Those folks have none.
It will be like this for the next month at least. I left out many other things that they are dealing with too. Too many to mention. I think I would have a problem with the mosquitos landing in my ears and mouth while sleeping.

I just want to say one last thing I DON'T feel bad for the ones trying to take advantage of my tax dollars but I will pray for the hard working family that is going through this rough time.

Just thought it was important to share my wonderful night. It was crazy out there.

Sandy

Everything you said is EXACTLY the reason these folks were told not to come back home yet!!!

They are slowing traffic on the roads and buying any gas they can find, filling up the hotels because their houses are damaged.... so just where are the repair crews from all over the US supposed to stay and buy gas while they are there volunteering to help with the clean-up, power and water and sewer restoration??

Dumb ****s!! they should have stayed away until they were told it was ok to return home...

I really feel for them and their loss and I've donated to help them... but God Almighty they seem to be eat up with a big case of dumb ass!

I bet they will not DEMAND that someone come take care of them, instead of staying in the shelters were the had power, shower, food, water, and a safe place to sleep.

I feel for them. Luckily the ones we know in MS say they had no major damages.
But I agree they should have waited.
That said everyone here is flipping out over a stupid TS. They all remember Isabelle which was soso but no major storm. That is all we have heard. I think some are afraid that the end of the world is coming.

They griped and complained about the shelters in Shreveport. So really we can't win for losing because you can never please everyone.

I heard a family of 10 on TV say they were not happy because they came up here and spent all their money on hotel rooms. Of course they didn't take advantage of the FREE disaster centers with FREE room and board.

We had 1700 displaced folks come to OKC for the past week or so. People complaining on TV cause it wasnt the Holiday Inn. We were only getting 800 folks, so only set up cots for that many, ended up with 2 times as many, so the first night there were not enough beds to go around. People want to get home - but at least staying behind you had free food and shelter and power. One guy said he wanted to get home to get back to work since he was a working man, but I bet they dont have any power where he is going.
