Craigslist Scam? - 09-05-2008, 09:42 AM

I posted "for sale" thread on craigslist. I am selling some of my Canon gears. I received this email from a guy John Baton:

"Hi,Thanks for your Reply.. I am happy that you still have the item because i have been searching to see this kind for long now, i am buying it as a special gift to my daughter. Your price is considered.
I will be sending the payment to you Via Paypal because it protects the interest of the two parties for auctions payments or if you don't have paypal account you can send me your Full name and Home address so that i will send it to you through money order which is also 100% safe for online transaction.
I will be taking care of the shipment tax so you don't need to bother yourself regarding the shipment fee as i will add it when sending the payment to you.
Please i will want you to get the package ready for me and consider it as sold as i will be sending out the payment once i receive the required information as stated.
I will be waiting to receive your reply soon. Have a nice day.
206 666 1926"

My instinct told me it's a SCAM.

Hard to say but yes it does sound very suspicious. He didn't mention that he's "Out of the country helping his aunt move" or anything typical like that. Id just skip his offer and wait for the next local person to show interest.

Edit: And yes what Photonwb said! If you never replied to anything, bingo... scam.

yea, i replied to his first email. he told me he's interested in the items that I listed, and asked for the final price. I replied with the price, and he sent the above response to me,
I smell SCAM...
I replied to him anyway, telling him the deal is made if he is willing to pay CASH.....and I just got his email like 2 seconds ago, here it goes:
"THANKS FOR YOUR MAIL, PLEASE AM NOT AROUND THE SATES RIGHT NOW, "

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!

It's a scam. I've sold a few items on craigs list without issues, but for every 1 item I sold I received 5 e-mails just like the one you received.
