Moving to Dallas - 09-08-2008, 04:11 AM

Wow, it has been a really long time since I posted so for those who remember 4 months ago my a 2nd addition arrived "My son Malachi who is now 4 months"

Since then alot has happened everything from DNA testing to make sure he was mine to him having colic for 2 months, Custody hearing etc.. and now him being a perfectly healthy and happy baby.

Everything seems to be going great so far or at least I just make sure I stay positive so perhaps everything just seems that way (LOL).

I am moving to dallas (Frisco area) within the next week or so where my g/f currently resides and attends college so the first thing I will be doing there is job hunting so if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. :) I have lived in hooks and texarkana area my entire life so dallas/frisco is a major jump for me.

Photos of my son in link below

Edit - On a side note, I am still doing web design just been very busy lately.

Welcome to the Metroplex!

I've lived in the Metroplex for about 9 years. I just moved from Frisco after 4 years. What kind of job are you hoping to find? Frisco is a well-to-do city, and the gas prices are higher there than anywhere else. It is a fairly new city, as it has grown from 6k people a decade ago to 110k people now. Just about everything in Frisco is less than a decade old, and a lot of it is less than 5 years old. Most of the jobs appeared to be service-related jobs; restaurant workers, bank employees and nail salon workers account for a very large chunk of Frisco employment. That and construction workers, that is.

Well honestly I'd much rather work from home doing web designs all day LOL.

However, I would prefer to work in something along the IT Field. I worked for Texas A&M University - Texarkana for over 2 years as there Web Administrator along with doing Tech Repairs and minor Networking.

Since I will need to get a job fast, I can't see myself getting a job like that doing IT for a bank, school, or whatever that easily.

Instead I am thinking I would have to get in fast with someone like Best Buy's Geek Squad, office job etc.. I dunno whatever comes first. :)

I don't know if you would be interested in temp work, but my company uses a lot of temps. I was brought in as a temp, then hired on, as most of the people on my floor were. You might try Spherion or one of the other tech temp agencies.

Get your resume in order and call InSource Group and TekSystems. They are two big, well-respected IT recruiting firms. They will assign a recruiter to you, ask you a ton of questions and help you find a job - generally as contract-to-perm. Ajilon Consulting is another good company.
