I'm taking a Basic Photography class at a local college. My assignment is a shoot on the theme of "Fear/Nightmare." I have lots of ideas that I want to shoot, but I need help on the props and a shoot location.
My first idea is based on an actual nightmare I had. In my dream, I was found myself lying on my back with my feet down and my head up so I was at about a 30° angle. I felt mellow and was sort of half-dozing, but I could see a man standing several feet away from me with his back towards me. He was chanting poetry, a sort of lilting Scottish lyric. As he chanted, a glass sheet slide up in front of me, and I noticed that I was lying in a sort of ceramic tub. I found that I was paralyzed as the clear sheet sealed me inside. Then, jets of blue flames flared out from the sides of the tub. I awoke.
So, what I want to do is make a shot of a model lying in a tub with a glass lid over the top of the tub and with jets of flame shooting out over the model's body. I am thinking of using propane torches to produce the flames and that I might protect the model from the heat of the torches by having her submerged under water.
Does anyone happen to have a setup like this that I could modify to my use? How about a studio near Garland? Does anyone know where I could get an inexpensive tub and propane torches? Any suggestions? |
