LOL yeah because I am so sure that gas stations are raising prices to protect us. But hey if some guy named Rich from east Tennessee says this is case then who am I to question large markups in gas price.

Of course they aren't doing it to protect us. Please re-read. That just so happens to be the outcome of conserving the gas.

As things settle down the prices will drop.

They may drop only half of the increase and instead of 3 days when going up, it may take 6 months to go down, but it could happen.

Oh, did Ike make pigs fly?

Gas that is being sold at the high price, was purchased at the lower price pre-Ike. Possibly even at the lower cost per barrel than 3 months ago. I don't know how long oil takes to get through the pipeline. But costs always go up faster than they go down. That is profit and too much profit is gouging. In some cases these folks should be ashamed.
