circuit lock - centerpoint energy...

This is a discussion on circuit lock - centerpoint energy... within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; anyone know what the heck that is? the guy on the phone couldn't explain it...but evidently my mother's address is ...

anyone know what the heck that is? the guy on the phone couldn't explain it...but evidently my mother's address is on a circuit lock.

she's killing me here....seriously...

Probably something simliar to my studio; either the circuit is damaged and dangerous to energize until repaired or in my case, the damage to the building and electrical service make it un-safe to energize the circuit.

They didn't lock my circuit...they just CUT the power lines coming into my studio and said "Call us when you get the damage repaired...."

Coby is right. In laymens terms, circuits are locked out when there are issues with the lines that prevent them from being safely energized. Could be linemen working on it, tree trimmers clearing limbs or damage to the line. They lock it out to prevent a someone from getting hurt or causing a short that could damage the substation it is feeding from.
