Need to get my kids a Wii console - 09-29-2008, 10:55 AM

But I can't seem to figure out where to get one locally in Dallas.

I will purchase on the web also.

What about Ebay, what should I look out for there?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Just a basic setup, trying to keep the $$ to a minimum.

Thanks for any help.

I found this information when I was searching for my Wii about 2 years ago, I strongly suggest giving it a try and keep at it until you get what you're after.

Quote:
Below is the excerpt of the email I got from Target.com:

we'll be happy to help you track down this item in one of our stores. Your best bet is to take this DPCI number (207-25-0001) to your nearest Target store and ask a team member to point you to the closest store that may have the item.

Or, if you aren't able to make it to a store, our Guest Relations team might be able to help you out. You can reach them Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Central time, at (800) 440-0680. Please reference the above mentioned DPCI number when you call them.
Also as an extra piece of information...stores like Best Buy tend to receive shipments of the console when there is a big release of a new/highly anticapted game. For example when Super Smash Bros came out, or Mario Kart. Not sure what else is on the horizon right now though.

I'd strongly suggest staying away from CL or Ebay as they're going to price gouge you because the darned thing is still so hard to find.

I'd start with best buy...ask them the days they get regular shipments in. Go first thing that morning. the one near me get shipments on Sunday mornings. That's when i got my wii fit. I've actually seen the wii's on the shelf around here...not for long...but on the shelf none the less instead of lines. And try online....i cant for the life of me remember where...but online, their homepage said We have Wiis! and it was a major store... i would think best buy/target/circuit city etc would tell you online if it was backordered?

I took Richard's advice but just called Target and asked if any of their stores had any.

The store on Monfort, across from Valley View did. Picked one up for $249.00.

Signed up for their card and got an additional 10% off. I won't ever use the card but it saved me $30.00 after purchasing an additional controller thingy.

Thanks for all of the help.

Now try finding a Wii Fit. They're just as hard to find.

Bought one last week at ToysRUs too. No problem finding it or any of the accessories.

Yeah, I did try to buy that, too, at Toys R Us, but they were sold out.

Back after Christmas, they were still out of stock, but I found them at Fry's. They make you buy a package deal, but the prices are the regular retail, and the next day I took back the parts I didn't want or need.
