tattoo place in Fort Worth - 09-30-2008, 10:10 AM

Ok, so I have finally decided what I want and where, but I need a good place to go for one. AND my husband is (mostly) ok with it. Does anyone have any recommendations? I just want to make sure it's some place clean and safe. There's so many out there. I don't want anything complicated or anything. Thanks!!

Does it have to be Fort Worth?

I plan on getting a re-do from Billy Jack at http://www.aetattoo.com

It’s not exactly Ft Worth, but Artistic Encounter off Rosemead is a really nice place and I know Billy Jack (the owner) keeps it very clean. I’ve got a pretty extensive piece that goes around my hips that he did for me a few of years ago. I tan a lot and my colors are still as bright as ever. Expect to pay some $$, but you will get what you pay for.

PS What did you decide to get and where?

Clean and safe is pretty much the industry standard from what I have seen. It's too cheap and easy to be both not to.

My best tattoo and my worst tattoo were both done cleanly and safely.

Make sure your artist has the ability as well as the hygiene! Remember you're wearing this 'forever', you don't want joe blow inking you, even if he is clean and safe.

I guess I don't mind traveling if I have to. We live up by Texas Motor Speedway so I was hoping for something closer.

Ok, I haven't 100% finalized it. It's down to a Celtic knot and a Celtic cross that I love. (I lived in Ireland during college and used to go back every year before I had kids. I also grew up in an Irish-American household so I wanted to incorporate that into it without being too cheesy.) I'd like something bigger than a quarter but not much on my back/shoulder (not sure what you would call it - back of my shoulder blade?)

If you need a dirty old man to document the tat just give me a call.

Rene - my reaction to your tat description would have to be in the "human form" section..

If you're near TMS, you could also look around for a "good" place in Denton. Thousands of UNT students can't be wrong!

There's a great one just outside of Fort Meade, in Maryland... might be a bit of a drive, though.

Daniel - I knew I should have gotten one last week. I was in Philly so I could have made it to MD. Then again, my best friend (who I was visiting) basically backs up to a tattoo place and her husband and sister have gotten tattoos there. I planned to just go there so she could go with me, but she has a newborn and my girls were acting up so didn't work.

Denton would definitely be closer than Dallas. Any recommendations up there?

The Salty Dog just west of downtown Fort Worth. The owner is called Troll, and he is by appointment only. I've gotten my last 4 from him, and not only is he really good, but his prices aren't insane.
It's down off of Berry and University, on Berry itself just east of University, next to a bar called The Aardvark.
