What is the time-lapse "skiing" effect called?

I'm having trouble finding examples of what I use to call "skiing", where you would compile hundreds of pictures to make it appear as someone is skiing on the ground. Basically, it's a time lapse version of someone walking, except for each shot you stand in the same pose to make it look like the old gumby clay-mations. I've seen a few commercials with this recently and it makes me what to get back into it and do a few more :)
