Do you actually TRUST your Doctor ?? - 10-04-2008, 10:24 AM

Well last month i went into my Cardiologist for my 6 mo meeting, I will try to make it short but I was taking two different Diuretics, 50 mg of Demodex a KICKASS drug and as needed I was taking 5mg of Metalazone. Well he changed me to 100mg of Demodex and lowered the Metalazone to 2.5 as needed. Well I had some of the 5mg left so I was just cutting them in half. Once I needed a refill I got it and it said take ONE PER DAY so I did that. Needless to say one a day was WAY tooo much lol. Last week my bp BOTTOMED out it was running as low as 70/50 once even got down to 62/50. Has anyone ever had bp that low believe me you DO NOT feel good. anyway I went in to the dr offiice and thats what it was I had just dehydrated myself we got it straight and its back up to normal now I still feel bad but it may take a few days to get it right,
So I don't know who's fault it is mine for reading the bottle ? who knows but i will still go to the same doc hes kept me goin for 20 yrs or so lol. Plus he hates it when I come in with an aggie hat on lol

Health is a supreme state of being that you have to work every day to attain. Through diet and exercise you can eventually attain it and possibly maintain it. You can't get health from a bottle, it's a very hard thing to get.

Always call and check w/your doctor if the dosage instructions on your Rx are not what he previously discussed with you! :)

I used to trust my dentist. I was sitting in his chair, he put the bib on me, and told me to open up. "Relax, you'll just feel a tiny prick in your mouth"... Can anyone trust him after that??

My blood pressure is normally 80-70 over 50 ish. Absolutely normal for me. I have been rejected from giving platelets numerous times from it being that low. BUT my body is used to it being that low. Low BP from what "they" have always told me is only dangerous when you pass out. DUH???? So I'm sure the BP was only a problem because your body wasn't used to it. But remember docs and pharmacists are human and will make mistakes. It's scary that one of those could kill you!!

Back 2000, I had an eye surgery for my Glaucoma to have a implant to help the drain from going high pressure in my eye. It was open surgery (meaning that I was wide awake during the surgery). All I felt was moving my head so much that I can't feel what they were doing but I can hear and it wasn't fun to hear. Then boom after few hours later, the numbness med goes away, there were my gate to hell opened up. I was screaming in pain and such and couldn't freakin' sleep at all. I went to doctor in morning and told him and he took patch off and I screamed at him and he said that "that never happened to me, you are my first who complained." I was like "are you kidding? YOU ****IN' MADE MISTAKE IN MY EYE? WHAT YOU DO? HUH? HUH?" I went nuts over him, of course he got couple of nurses hold me down. After that, goes on 8 years now, I have side effect........headaches on side of my head and swollen in my eyes every time I wake up in morning. So I will never ever trust doctor ever again with my eye. I learned my lesson and will never do it again.

Hope you will feel better, David.

I do not trust doctors when it comes to questins with meds, I trust pharmacists for med questions. being that I have a new military doctor every like 5 months I gave up on going for something minor and keeping on their butts for something major.....but when it's major then it turns into a headache because I have to keep dealing with tricare and sometimes I'd rather put a bullet in my head and call it a day.

One should have a decent relationship with their Dr. whatever the initials are behind their name. Trust is definately an issue when it comes to Dr's.
However, remember these words when you put your relationship in perspective with whomever you call your doctor.

If physicians are the end all, be all, of healthcare and treatment; then why do they call it a medical PRACTICE..

Just my two cents. Think about it..

In a word, YES.

My doctor (surgeon) has saved my life at least twice. I literally would not be here if not for him and his staff! My physician is by far the smartest and most dedicated person I've ever met. I think that's really saying something.

So, are doctors and health care in general perfect? No, but thank God we have them!

BTW, diet and exercise are great, but some people really DO require medication.

I trust my doctor but they do make mistakes. I have a niece who is a pharmacist and she catches mistakes from doctors all the time. They either prescribe the wrong drug or maybe the wrong dosage. Sometimes their writing is so bad the pharmacist could easily misread it and give the wrong medicine. I trust my doctor to diagnose my health problems but I trust my pharmacist when I have a question about medicines.

Doctors are not required to periodically review medicines but a pharmacist is required to have regular training on medicines because they change so quickly. Doctors rely on pharmaceutical reps to bring them up to date on new medicines. My niece worked as a pharmaceutical rep for a few years and her job was to sell doctors on the idea of using her companies drugs. Sometimes a doctor prescribes a particular drug because a rep has visited recently and convinced them to try a new drug. Sometimes they prescribe an old drug because it is something they have always prescribed when there is a new better drug available.

All in all they do a good job of keeping us healthy. However, if you don't trust your doctor then you need to find another one.

Doctors are shills for Big Pharma. I had angioplasty back in '99, so they had me on BP meds, cholesterol, thinners, and something for the damage, I think. Messed my head up, so the quack I was seeing afterwards put me on Celexa. I wouldn't give that crap to condemned criminals. I took the last dose of ANYTHING December of 2002. My wife (at the time) freaked and said I would die. I said I'd take my bloody chances...and I'm still alive.

Anyway...when some quack says I can't have chocolate, I have no use for 'im.

Which doctor you talking about?

My primary? yes
My orthopedic? maybe. But then, I'm on fourth now
My Pain managment? on my second now. My first did nothing.
My Psychiatrist? eh, I dunno.
My Chiropractor? My new one yes, my first one I swore was more intent on trying to make as many people's backs and necks crack as loudly as possible in the shortest amount of time. I'd literally be in and out of treatment in about 30 seconds. Ignored me and wouldn't listen when I said my back was extremely sore.
My new one? Trust him totally. Isn't just concerned about my back, but about my whole well being. Is very gentle, listens to me and tries other holistic and alternative approaches to treatment.
