Video premier of a friend's song

Back in 2003 Alex Woodard (my friend that is a singer/songwriter from San Diego) was gracious enough to let me use the title of one of his songs as my (then) personal domain name... which has grown into (and again he said it was OK to use as) the name of my Photography Business - Other Than Roses.

Well, that was 2 or 3 CD's ago... But his latest CD came out this summer and one of the songs from it is getting some play in the country music market.

Below is the email about the new video for the song Reno (which is one of my favorites from the new CD)....

now. so.... the news is that the next evolution in the project has
come around and we'll be writing some of your songs together. i'm

what with me. having their love and attention and talent given to
these songs will be special for me, and hopefully for you too.

finally, we're playing a FREE show at the casbah in san diego on
october 25th. it's a saturday night, and the doors are at 8:30pm...

Can't see the video at work, but I'm excited to see it because I'm a Sara Watkins fan. I met her a few times when I lived in SD, and she was always a sweetheart. I love her voice too.

I can't say I know too much about her - but their voices make an AWESOME duet on this song!

She's in the band Nickel Creek, which is an awesome group if you're into country-style music. They're based out of San Diego but in the past few years have had a few hits. I'll let you know...

Oh, in case anybody is wondering about the second part of the email... He ran a deal that if you pre-ordered this new CD you got the CD, a T-shirt and a custom written song by him on any topic/story you send him. He is really enjoying the writing for other people.. says it is really giving him a new perspective.

I have yet to decide what I want my song to be about..... So many of his songs resonate with my life already.. It's hard to think of something new that hasn't already been written about.
