This is a discussion on Befuddled within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; I just don't get it. What's with people slapping sepia tone on snapshots and calling it art or fine photography? ...

I just don't get it. What's with people slapping sepia tone on snapshots and calling it art or fine photography? Do you think people really can't see things like lighting, composition, focus? |

Can you provide an example of someone doing this ? The definition of "art" is quite fluid, as is the definition of "snap shot". |

Sorry, my rant is prompted from a non-TPF related incident. And I realize that art is subjective. So probably I should just keep my venting to myself. It's really none of my business, honestly. I just can't help scratching my head at images of out of focus, over exposed children. Images that probably would never even make most people's photo albums. Suddenly become "professional" when converted to sepia. Sepia tone is not 100 percent fool-proof photo-magic.  . |
