I got a 50d this weekend and did not ask for it!? - 10-20-2008, 11:11 AM

I asked my wife to come help me shoot a game last friday night. I needed some more shots of the Cheerleaders and Cadets than I have been getting. She went along with me. It took alot of smooth talking to get her to go.
I gave her the old 20d and a 50mm 1.8 and told her to shoot away.
At the end of the night she had some nice keepers but I noticed whenever I looked for her during the game she was busy reviewing her shots.

Some backround here- I just picked up a 40d in June. It took alot of making deals with my wife to finally get the 40d. She could not understand why I needed newer equipment? The 20d still worked. Right?

Well Sunday morning she announced that the 20d was not acceptable to use(the screen is way to small), and If I wanted her to help me again then she should also have a new camera with a bigger screen. I suggested a new XSI. So off we go to Ritz so she could lay her hands on some equipment. She ended up really liking the 40d. So she decided that the one at the house should be hers and I now needed a camera.

In the end we bought a new 50d with a 28-135is and a new 580II flash from best buy.

I am still in shock

Congratulations !!!

That said, may I recommend some nice fire / water proof safe? Now that she's hooked, you'll start having to lock your wallet or credit cards somewhere she can't find j/k. enjoy the 50D. I had a chance to check it out at Circuit City and it was hard to resist.

Can your wife talk to my wife for a few minutes? It would help me greatly.

Nice way to get an upgrade. I guess I'm lucky that my wife has no interest in photography. I can't even give her a digital P&S. She doesn't want to mess with charging batteries, so she still uses an Olympus Stylus Zoom 35mm film camera, mostly to take pictures of the cat.
