Ironic how WoW and other MMPORPG's were meant to be played by different people. All thanks to you Leroy Jenkins! You made people take things into their own hands.

Actually if that guy is playing 36 characters at one time, then he is making money. No one would do that unless they were already independently wealthy. My account, even though it was outdated sold for over $300.

I played for 3 years raiding on Alliance, and quit around the time the expansion came out because of family reasons. I was in one of the top raiding guilds on our server. I picked it back up for about a year and raided as Horde thru the end of BC content.

I sold my account when I started school because I just don't have time for 4 jobs, I can only manage 3 at a time. School replaced WOW.

Yeah, probably not. He spends 5700 a year on his subscriptions. Then there is the costs for all those gaming systems, which are probably pretty high tech. And the electricity.

There is no way he recoups all that by playing. He has money else where and pours it into WOW.

Yea thats pretty rediculous.

I played a bunch but recently sold off my accounts...thats the way to make money.

Bout to start up again during christmas to kill some time.

Thomas: If you can play right you can make the money back easily. 100 gold = 1 hour of work = ~$10.

8 hours of work = $80 x 36 = 2880 a day.

I know, it was my part time job for a while.

Absolutely not, even playing that many accounts with intent to sell. How many hours did you pump into playing WOW? Those hours don't even begin to compensate....

I put in 46 days on my account, including all the time I spent "farming and selling on ebay".

In total, I came out about $5000 ahead over a year or so. It really did pay for my spending money through the first 2 years of college. Its pretty sad.

Edit:

If you say I made minimum wage, for each of those hours I put in, I broke even. However, it was fun, and it didnt feel like work. I enjoyed every minute of it.

We used to do that for money...buying & selling virtual items in Asheron Calls, the first one. We didn't actually play, but rather wrote our own scripts to run them. Asheron Calls II came out, and we quit

This guys is actually nothing compared to us even back then. In the end when the profits weren't as good, we sold the computers to a school and setup a whole computer lab for them with these used computers.

Now with quad-core, and he has to have that many screens and computers? I personally know a few guys who ran 4-5 WoWs on a few quadcores at once with bots to generate extra money while they are at work. But Blizzard's cracking down on virtual item market & cheap labor farmers from outside countries, mainly China & Vietnam, are making it not worth it anymore.

I used to play this just for fun, and on top of my head, I had at least 5 accounts that the mistress knew heheh.

I actually enjoyed WoW, and even sold a few things here and there, but mainly for the entertainment value of it. Of the people I know whom made money, their hours were absolutely compensated more than enough, even more than a high paying job. But you do need to spend a huge amount of time in-game to keep an eye out for the market and whatnot.

As others said, its like the "dream job". You have total fun, sit in your pj's have no boss, no pressure, no responsibility, your own schedule... It's work but not really, money for free while having fun.

You could make money so easy in the game and people pay real money for fake money... perfect combo.
