If I am making it myself:

Corned Beef Hash w/ homefries and grits OR SOS over Hashbrowns and grits OR Chorizo Fino and hashbrowns in tortillas. I must say that my old Mess Hall in the army (2/36th Infantry) had about the best SOS I have ever eaten. On a cold day in Germany, SOS. hash browns, and grits with coffee was a meal from heaven.

If I am going out to say... The Blanco Cafe, then

Chorizo and potato tacos

I like BIG breakfasts when I can make them or get them, and then smaller meals later on. No eggs, I am allergic to eggs.

Breakfast without eggs!!!! I'm having to restrict 'em from my diet so I save 'em for the one weekend meal. My current favorite weekend big breakfast is a ham and cheese omelet. There is this awesome applewood smoked ham (Vandle Rose) that was at Central Market for awhile, a little Murcia Curado (Naked Goat) cheese and some chives. This is the perfect cheese for eggs as it's not overpowering but still has the cheese twang finish.

Three eggs scrambled with cheddar, onion and jalapenos, hash browns, six slices crisp bacon, short stack of pancakes with sugar-free syrup (I've got diabetes), lots of fresh grapefruit juice and hot, fresh coffee...Call me when it's ready......Ben

Fried Egg (over hard) and Bacon sandwich with Cheddar or Jack, plenty of butter, and Cayenne and Jalapenos on toasted Wheat, side of "potatoes o'brien" and maple sausage links with syrup, black coffee, preferably Kona. Mmmmmmmmm.

Or put all of that in a casserole. Best thing about breakfast- tastes awesome no matter how you make it, or in what order it goes down!

SOS Rocks. My MOL makes it for us when we visit.

Second, I love Cream of Wheat with powdered sugar.

Third, Denver Omelet.

All of the above.

I have 3 places close by I go to each week:

Bellaire Coffee Shop - Only place in Houston area I know of that has SOS. A little too creamy normally, but still delicious. Very affordable.

New York Deli & Bagels (on Hillcroft just South of Braeswood): I eat there 2-3 times a week. Usually get the Western Omelet (with large chunks of ham, green peppers, and onion), with grits and a toasted Bialy bagel, for about $5.50. They also have awesome homefries (there version of hashbrowns). Also occassionally get their corned beef hash & eggs (also with a side of grits or homefries and a bagel). You can also sub a potato pancake for the homefries/grits.

Cues Burgers: Neighborhood hole in the wall on S Post Oak just south of 610/Belfort. Their Morgan Taco is awesome: $1.50 and stuffed with Egg, Hasbrown & Bacon. Also a good Chorizo Taco.

OK, I'm hungry now.

The Breakfast Klub on the corner of west alabama and travis is the only place I can go and get it like I cook it so I go there everytime I am in Houston.

here lately I have been on an oatmeal kick, oatmeal with MILK not water, with dried fruit and brown sugar mixed in! YUMMY! but my all time favorite breakfast, its a toss up. my mom used to make me matzos brie in the mornings just before saturday morning cartoons, otherwise its good old fashioned pancakes, sheys special scrambled eggs, and hashbrowns! YUMMMMMMMMMY!

Eggs Benedict with freshly steamed asparagus between the Canadian bacon and the egg or Lox in place of the Canadian bacon.
