Looking for a certain photo (of a school bus) - 10-29-2008, 10:09 PM

I'm looking for certain photograph that was shown to me in class one year. I'd like to use it as the photo for an evaluation I have to do, but I can't seem to find it. I have NO idea who took it or what it was titled, if anything.

It's a posed scene where a school bus has been overturned in the middle of a neighborhood. Students stand all around. One or some are on top of the bus. Some sit nearby. Some are walking away. It's a peculiar scene because there aren't any adults. The scene seems to be shot from a higher level, but not from directly above.

If anyone has any idea which photo this might be, please let me know! Thanks!

oh and it's not a news photo or anything like that. it's completely posed and of better quality than typical newshots.

I might be offended by that (not that you've seen any of my work).

haha well, I've been googling like crazy trying to find it. but all I can come up with are various (crappy) news shots of real overturned school buses that look like they were taken from video stills or something, or lame stock photos. =/

What you are looking for is by Gregory Crewdson. I can't locate an example of the photo, but this is the description.

Still, you
cannot help but double take when encountering the work of Gregory Crewdson, whose Hollywood-like productions result in elaborate staged photographs
of bizarre events, such as "UT (overturned schoolbus, 2001-02)." The photo incorporates an overturned bus surrounded by small children and manicured
lawns

sorry that it took almost sixteen minutes to come up with the answer.
I'm old and my fingers are slower than they used to be.

Tom got it correct. I've always wondered if anyone else really considers him a photographer? I think of him more as a creative director as he doesn't actually take the photos, but he does choreograph the set up.

Here's an example of how he works:
