Dallas-Fort Worth area hit by two earthquakes

DALLAS — Two minor earthquakes shook the Dallas-Fort Worth area overnight, but no injuries or significant damage were immediately reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a 2.5 magnitude was reported at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, centered in the Grand Prairie area.

The agency says a slightly stronger quake, at 3.0 magnitude, occurred at 12:01 a.m. today, centered in the Irving area, about 10 miles west of Dallas.

USGS geophysicist Randy Baldwin says aftershocks could last several days.

Law enforcement agencies across northern Texas said they received some 911 calls from people who had felt the quakes.

While not on a scale matching regions such as the West Coast, Texas has occasional earthquakes.

An April 7 earthquake in southern Texas had a 3.7 magnitude.

A minor earthquake was felt by some people in Amarillo on March 30, 2002. That area also recorded seven minor earthquakes in 2000.

I've experienced quakes in California, Arizona, New York.
Slept through whatever shook last night.

I don't think I felt it, and I was up during both. Or maybe I did feel it but paid no mind to it—there are always rumblings around here. LOL

A buddy here at work felt it. He went outside to see what was happening.

Unfortunately I slept through it. Bummer

Whaa? I think I was up, but I don't remember either... well, maybe I did, I think I was half asleep and remember thinking there was a dump trunk driving by. Now that I think about it, that doesn't make any sense at midnight

From what I hear, mostly only Euless and Irving felt much of anything - or at least that's where most of the 911 calls were from. I slept through all of that...but I can sleep through almost anything. Two kids plus a business means I'm pretty exhausted most nights. I wake up like a shot if the girls make a peep, but very little else even gets me to move.

Didn't feel it! Don't really want to!

Barely missing a few tornadoes in my lifetime is enough for me.

Don't worry, we'll send all the FEMA folks up from Houston/Galvston to "help" you....they'll be there in January.

I wonder if that is why my beagle, and all the other dogs in the neighborhood went ballistic last night. I was watching the Tonight show and I had to call my blasted dog in due to the ruckus he was causing. LIttle dude was facing west too! Hmmmmmmm...

I was working at the haunt last night and one of the little kids said something about "did you feel that?" I dont think I felt anything but I am not sure since a lot was going on in the haunted house. a lot of banging on the walls and the little kids were shaking the bed in the room I was stationed in last night so I couldnt tell.

I used to live on the Big Island of Hawaii. My house was on short stilts. I could sit in my office with my bare feet on the floor and could feel the floor vibrating gently. My desk would shake several times a month. After a while, you just get used to it.
