This has been discussed many times. Unless you have 25-50k to spend, you will find nothing out there other than the 5DMkII that can shoot high quality 1080P HD video, use interchangeable lenses, have high ISO performance and image stabilization.
Personally, I don't have the extra 10's of thousands for a "real" hd camera (not VCR) like the "RED"..
I'll be using my 5DmkII to make short films for fun. But this is a killer application for those that can't afford movie grade digital cameras. (we're not talking about a Sony HDV or Canon HD cam either... We're talking full-frame 35mm capture..)
Personally, I cannot wait to shoot some video using the 300F2.8IS or some of the wide primes. These shots will look nothing like a video you see these days...If cinematic production value is important (and you're into movie making), this is a serious game changer.
Do I sound like I drank the cool-aid? LOL
Actually, since I got out of the video biz in 2003 nothing has even come close to getting me excited about shooting motion video again until this was announced.
BTW: That is a cool looking follow focus and mattebox... Those things are so darn expensive, but work great when properly used. I'll be interested to see how this one works out. Then again, I don't see myself buying it...$2k for something that will not give me any ROI (at least I don't expect it too)...is just a bit too steep. Then again, I could sell some of my old gear....na. Not interested in shooting video for $ any longer... Well.. hrmmmm... LOL
