I'm nervous for once

Ok, so I just found out that I will be going back to Haiti on a magazine assignment. I've been to Haiti a number of times for this stuff, but I'm kinda not liked on both sides there these days. My mom has been telling me half the morning to kiss my kids goodbye because I will be dead the first day...lol...thanks mom! I was actually not really wanting to go back, but I don't want to turn down this assignment, either. It also means, in combination with my other out of the country weddings that month, I will be gone for 3 weeks of the month. Anyway, I thought if I wrote about it here I might feel better.

HH, yeah, I might do that. Lol, I will try and call. Hopefully, I will get a cell phone since ours don't work in Haiti.

Tom, I'm hoping they will provide some sort of security...not that it helps much there. I'm going to try to keep a low profile, as much as I can, but the last time I was there, I felt ppl watching me. It was a really eerie feeling. Plus, the last time, even the rebels (they used to like me), thought we called the UN on the head rebel, so they were about to burn us in our cars, alive. I just hope ppl aren't alerted when I arrive. I can't even trust my fixer right now there.

You are an adult. You can make decisions on your own. I'm sure you're also very good at what you do. Now I don't know exactly how dangerous this job is...but you aren't just making the decision for you. You are making decisions for your children. Do they want you to go?

What do you hope to gain from this assignment that you haven't already accomplished?

Is that worth risking your life over? And realistically how much risk is involved?

Is the article a cause you believe in, or are you acting as purely a mercenary with a camera, available to the highest bidder?
