Are there any members using an unlocked iPhone with T-Mobile?
I made the mistake of "playing" with a 3G iPhone. It so happens I am in the market for an all-in-one type of mobile device and the iPhone best suits my needs.
Unfortunately I still have a year left on my T-Mobile contract. In addition, it would cost $200 dollars to get out of the contract. Plus the cost of the new iPhone and plan would be a huge dent in my wallet. With that being said, how many of you are using an iPhone with T-Mobile?

I seriously considered it until the G1 came out, after playing with both it's a great alternative and the development of apps for it has been pretty fast. Come January there should be a lot more apps come out that are much better, plus you would get 3g where with an unlocked iphone you wouldn't on t-mobile. There are a lot of people on cellphone forums that have used the iphone on tmobile and loved it, some switched to the G1 for the 3g coverage but if you aren't concerned about data and will use mostly wifi you should be ok.
I wish at&t and tmo would have used the same frequencies for 3g, would have made things so much easier

Also, my wife and I use MS Outlook 2007 for EVERYTHING. Contacts, calender, appointments...and so forth. Can you the sync the G1 with MS Outlook via USB cable?

Not as of yet. Full Exchange support is being worked on right now and there is an app available as a free download called contactsSync that will load contacts from an exchange server but that's it, no cal or appointments. That's what's so great about open source though, there are a lot of developers working on getting the apps people want and need quickly.

Can you the sync the G1 with MS Outlook via USB cable? | Is it still not possible for the iPhone to sync with Exchange and another client? I ask because when I was researching the Exchange/iPhone implementation possibilities (ah, systems administration :) ) I read that if you sync with Exchange, you can't have 'personal' contacts and mail synced at the same time. Have they updated it where you can separate work and home Exchange/Outlook syncing?
Of course, if I am mistaken please let me know. The iPhone is one of the devices I'm looking at for my next phone, as well as the G1.

I know it is possible to unlock one now it just hasn't been made publically available by the iphone dev team, of course with tmo there is no reason to choose a 3g iphone over a 1st gen since the 3g data speeds won't work on tmo

I got out of my T-Mobile contract....sorta!
A buddy contacted me last night with some contract info. He directed me to a great article which can be found here.
Even though the article is two years, old one option he discussed worked for me. I was able to transfer my contract to my wife. She was past her two year agreement. So now I'm free to sign with any carrier I choose.
