Help! Need narrow kid's shoes - 11-06-2008, 06:47 PM

OK, I looked everywhere in town today and I cannot find shoes to fit my daughters super narrow feet. She goes through shoes in about 3 weeks. Im not kidding. The dr said she has runners feet - very narrow w/ high arches. Anyway, I started to look for narrow sneakers. Im gonna have to order online b/c no one sells narrow kids sneakers in town.

Help. Zappos has 1 pair and they are $60. I checked Stride Rite and a couple other sites and they dont have narrow sneakers.

Any suggestions?

When I was growing up -- aasics always ran a lot narrower than other sneakers. Growing up, I once had a pair of AA width boots, so I can empathize with the challenge of finding shoes that fit.

You might also look at puma -- best pair of cleats I ever had, and they made great track spikes as well.

If you can find some in the retro stores, the rubber toed addidas and k-swiss were built in such a way that the laces determined the width more than the build of the shoe.

all of that if you are looking for sneakers.

If you are looking for dress shoes for girls, then I absolutely can't help you there.

addidas superstar -- 70$ and very tough -- should last as long as she doesn't outgrow it -- also look around for the "stan smith"

Im looking for sneakers. She runs fast, and she's only 8. So basically, they are her everyday shoes for gym.

I edited to post links to adidas -- the vintage shoes "superstar" and "Stan Smith" always ran very narrow, and will be great for gym and you should be able to find them local

Holly, try Stride Rite, I have been buying some shoes there, also easy spirit and clarks have narrows. They are very difficult to find though...good luck. I had to get orthodics to support my arches-as a runner I started having knee pain. Had knee surgery, didn't fix the pain, finally quit running. Found a runner who diagnosed the problem, got orthodics and within a couple days was back to running.

I had the same issue with my oldest son growing up. Very long and very narrow feet. I finally started buying his shoes thru http://www.eastbay.com/. They have TONS of shoes, from reasonable prices to very expensive. You will have to look thru lots. They seem to mostly cater to boys shoes but definitely have girls as well. Good luck!

My entire family has narrow feet and it's really hard to find shoes - my dad has have his shoes custom made. I imagine it's even harder now to find narrow shoes for kids because the average foot is larger and wider. I always found Adiddas fit me better than other tennis shoes (I also have that high arch), but I don't remember what I wore as a kid. I do know if you have a hard to fit foot and find shoes that fit, buy them right then because they won't be around if you wait. Good luck!

I found a couple of narrow width kids sneakers (that arent embarrassing) and their prices are closer to $50. The online site I was looking at to buy them are shiksters though. I'll have to check out the site you guys listed. So far I found out Adias and Keds are the main two that have kids narrows. Stride Rite seems to not offer narrow sneakers, but they do have dress shoes.
