Finally!

los Angeles (e! Online) – Our Prayers Have Been Answered! Abc Has Just Confirmed To Me That Lost Has Received An Official Premiere Date For Season Five, And Even Better, It's A Smidgen Earlier Than Expected. On Wednesday, Jan. 21, Lost Returns With A Three-hour (you Heard Me, Three-hour!) Premiere. "because You Left" And "the Lie" Will Air Back-to-back, Following A Recap Of The First Four Seasons (for The Very Few People Who Aren't Already Addicted And/or Obsessed). So What Does This Mean For Abc's Wednesday-night Lineup? After The Lost Extravaganza Premiere, The Series Will Continue On Wednesday Nights At 9. Reps At Abc Have Told Me That A Decision On New Time Slots For Private Practice And Possibly Pushing Daisies (pleeease?) Will Be Announced Next Week. Episodes Three Through Six Are As Follows: "jughead," "the Little Prince," "the Place Is Death" And "the Life And Death Of Jeremy Bentham." This News Comes On The Heels Of The Casting Scoop From Earlier Today About The Part Of A Lost Man's Lover. By Chance, Anyone Excited To Find Out Where The Island Went?

Very cool! Lost and Battlestar Galactica are the only two shows that I regularly watch.

It's hard to maintain interest when the seasons are short and so far apart.
:( I'm to the point where i just want them to offer up whatever idea they have for the whole situation, and be done with it.

And both have sometimes bizarre schedules.

Lost's seasons haven't been that much shorter than normal... they've just been holding them so we can get them back to back, week after week, instead of the sometimes painful 4-6 week hiatus over Christmas.. another 2 week dearth of new after sweeps.. and so on. I think this season is supposed to be 20 episodes?

Now Galactica.. that just irritates me.. they have the last episodes in the can.. but they are holding them because they are trying to drag out the ratings... in the meantime, people are losing interest. So instead of the last 3 seasons being 3 20 episode seasons, its been more like 6 10 episode seasons... the last episode aired in what, March? And they're holding it until January? WTF? Some of the best SF television ever produced... and they've been losing fans because of their bizarre airing schedule.

Lost was originally supposed to go 8 seasons, and the last 3 were supposed to be 13 each. However the writers strike caused them to change their minds and they are doing 2 seasons of like 20 instead.

BSG on the other hand was just a choice made by SciFi and it is annoying as all hell. The only good thing about it is that Caprica is on the horizon and I can only hope that they're planning to bring Caprica in shortly thereafter.

The Writers Strike killed a lot of stuff last year, for example we didn't get a season of Rescue Me, however it is coming back this next Summer. The writers strike seemed to work to the benefit of some Summer shows and Burn Notice on USA is one of them, it's actually going to get a Winter season and not make us wait til next Summer. Of course thanks to IKE I missed the finale of it...
