Or at least one of them. He has a 50/50 chance of being the next POTUS and he gets frisked at the airport. What profile do Presidential candidates fit?

Don't think it's ridiculous, the TSA was just doing their job. You never know, he might be bugged or wired or something without knowing it.

Colin Powell talked about the same thing and he's the one that helped put the policies in place.

Can't go showing preferential treatment, even to presidential candidates who fly public airlines as opposed to private. That would just send a mixed message . . .

I figure they probably like getting treated like the hoi polloi on occasion, just to show that they are regular folks just like us. Kinda like when I get carded for alcohol, which just happened to me a few days ago.

You're kidding, right? The candidaes fly with Secret Service and personal security before that. He was boarding HIS chartered plane. This is the ridiculousness of the TSA. I've seen celebrities get escorted through the TSA lines, so they don't follow their rules all the time.

The TSA doesn't search for "bugs" or "wires" and the equipment he is using on the Senator does not detect "bugs", just certain levels of certain metals.

Yes, except I would think this is equally ridiculous with ANY major presidential candidate, regardless of party affiliation, race, sex, etc.

It's "little old lady sindrome." The TSA has to perform a certain number of random searches so they choose candicates that are not likely to cause a fuss and that are not likely to cause paperwork -- read actually find anything on them.

Yes, just doing the job but when you pay peanus, you hire monkeys.
