This is what I would do if I had spare time... come to think of it... this is what I did without spare time. It took for freaking ever but it came out alright. Sorry about the crappy image... I couldn't find a photographer

A trellis with two shelves for plants and whatnot...

It was more than a bit of work For one thing I never did find a square drill bit so I could drill out the holes for the "ladder" elements. I had to use a router, a straight cutting bit, a guide bushing, and a template. It took most of a day to cut the holes. The ladders are actually 1" square stock rotated 90° to form a diamond... they are set into the previously mentioned 1" deep holes.
