Look at your local colleges. Also, there are online classes like NYIP.

Texas A&M has 2. There's 2 profs that teach em. the main guy in the first one does strictly film, doesnt even own a dslr. don't know the policy on auditing a class if not a student, but I'm doubt he'll care if you have your own camera

I just had one at my studio that finished up a couple weeks ago.

Is there an area you want help with or do you just want to start at the beginning?

We just had one yesterday. It was for beginning wedding photography. There is another on Dec 7th on child photography.

Odds are you can find a local class too through the city. There are lots of beginner classes and workshops out there - everything from how to shoot, to lighting, to marketing. ;o) Lots of stuff to choose from.

I think that I need a really beginner class. I am VERY new to this and want to learn to use my camera on something other than "auto". Like I said, I am completely clueless! I have the Canon XSI and will be using it for family memories mainly. I have found that I am really interested in learning as I start to play with my camera.

Too bad you didn't see my October class in time, that's exactly what we talk about...

In the meantime, check continuing education classes at the local colleges.

I would like to Take a Workshop along the same lines. One that you actually used your camera, and it was HANDS ON and not so much Lecture! (around Houston)

Tarrant County College has a very good Photo 101 class as part of the continuing education program. I'm sure the Dallas county jr college does too. there are a few other colleges in dallas that probably have adult classes in the evening too. They are usually not very expensive.

I saw you looking for workshops.
Check out workshops monthly to just come and shoot and we help with settings and lighting.
