I recently just got rid of my bike so no more riding for me... at least for awhile. I have a friend that made a rig for his camera using a tank bag. You might look into something like that.

Yeah, really not looking to take photos while riding... :-)

More interested in good ride to locations, hang outs, etc.

Thanks!

Ahh... Get out to 2920 and just start riding some of the back roads. I also would go 1488 to 362 and 1774 and hit some of those back roads as well. Some great scenes out there and some nice riding.

When I first began riding I used to chase the sun. Head out early on a Saturday or Sunday and take any road that kept me heading toward the sun. Not directly into it, you'll burn out your retinas, just everytime I'd come to an intersection, the sun decided which way to turn. Around noon, I'd find a nice little place to eat lunch, then chase the sun all afternoon. Great thing about it, I'd end up pretty close to where I started out by the end of the day.

I have a GSXR 1000 and sometimes carry the camera on it. I still need to get a smaller backpack so I can use that.

And yeah, I ride with friends from work. We take a week off in the summer and travel. Last year we went to Yellowstone:

And this year we went to the Grand Canyon and points west:

I'll also go for shorter 1 day rides over the weekend - PK Lake, Talimena Scenic Drive, etc.

Congratulations on the new bike - riding is such a fun and rewarding mode of transportation and hobby.

Do you really think a 1300 is big enough for a first bike?

Yeah, I'm a little on the "seasoned" side--just turning 40 in a few days and a little on the...umm...larger side as well. VTX1300 is fuel injected, liquid cooled, and has two counterbalances on the engine...seat is low for a bike this size too. I tried on the smaller V-Stars and didn't care for the 1100 (personal choice).

So far, it handles like a dream.

I just got a new bag that would probably work great to carry my camera on my bike. Still a little paranoid to try it though. I need a compact tripod too...
