Wtb? - 11-13-2008, 03:49 PM

Hey Gang, kind new here. I wanted to post a thread on the buy and sell section for wanted to buy. I wont say what im looking for in order stay in compliance with the rules. I sort of understand why if you are trying to sell something. But, im just trying to find something for my cam. Rules state that you have to have 25 or more posts on here first. Any ideas why you cant post a WTB? Oh, who is the forum moderator?LOL That might help. Just cant find them. : (

This is to protect mebers fro spammers or unscrupulous sellers. From the rules:

19. Buy/Sell Forum
Members must have at least 25 posts on the forum before they are allowed to post a new thread in the Buy/Sell Section of the website. Threads created elsewhere in order to circumvent the rule will be deleted immediately. Also members that post a bunch of one liners and such to pad their post count just to get 25 posts will have them deleted. This is to ensure scammers from jumping online to try to bait someone into buying something they may or may not really own. Members with less than 25 posts can still post replies to those threads in order to purchase items from others. All For Sale listings in this section MUST accompany an asking price for the item. If you are unsure of what you can get on an item simply set a price and add O.B.O. (Or Best Offer).

Abel would be the one you need to talk to. He is a reasonable person and might let you post a WTB without the required post count. Send him a PM.

Just keep watch over the BUY/SELL forum until you see what you're looking to buy. if someone has it for sale, that's where it'll be. In the mean time, get to posting! You'll have the needed post count before the weekend is over.

Its been modified for astrophotography. Emmision nebulae emit red light in the UV/IR wavelength. The UV/IR blocking filters on all digital cameras signifigantly block this light from hitting the CMOS on the camera making it difficult if not almost impossible to photograph these objects. The UV/IR blocking filter is taken off and replaced with a clear filter. There are three companies that do the modification. The modification I have still allows daylight photography and autofocus. The second option is with a less expensive filter and you would have to use filters on the lens itself. The third option is with an even less expensive filter and you can only shoot straight IR. Hutech, Baader and Lifepixel offer these mods. I bought mine with the mod already done. The mod was $350. But, I got the 10D with the mod for only $300.
This mod drastically cuts down exposure times. Generally for most deep space astrophotos exposures can last from 30 min. up to 2 hours.

Most discussion of this type of photography takes place in the Infrared section here.

PM me for a forum dedicated to IR which has some people shooting full spectrum and everything else you can think of without the IR blocker in the camera.
